   Robert Dean Frisbie wrote about Polynesia in a vivid and graceful style. He captured on paper the charm, beauty, and serenity of life on the small islands of the Pacific, without exaggerating the idyllic context.

   'My Tahiti' is the second book written by Frisbie about life in a Polynesian village. This time is pen told of daily life around a remote Tahitian village, circa 1920.

    Frisbie described the idyllic Tahitian life that Paul Gauguin painted. In describing his own incentives, Frisbie wrote;

     "During the twelve years of wandering among the atolls of the South Seas, I have attempted, at odd moments, to re-create from memory, fragmentary passages from my life in a Tahitian village. These sketches and incidents are an attempt to recapture something of the spirit of native Tahitian life as I knew it during the first three years of 1920."

   And so becomes 'My Tahiti', as Frisbie briefly brings to life a people and place that has been lost to a dream.
